Anna Terni (at right) - Librarian at I Tatti 1940s-90s

In the immediate postwar years in Florence it was very difficult for a young woman to find work. Anna and her family had spent a long period in hiding from the Fascists and so continuous education had been problematic. But through contacts her family had, Anna was interviewed at the Villa and was taken on to work in the Library. She helped Nicky Mariano in finding material for Berenson when he was doing his research and has fond memories of BB’s presence in the Library. Anna remained working at the Library for fifty years.

Fragile but with 'un viso sorridente' and a passion for his Library (in Italian)
