October 1900 Bernard and Mary Berenson acquire the three Sassetta panels for 2,000 francs. 27th December 1900 Bernard and Mary are married in a civil ceremony in Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio and two days later in the chapel of I Tatti. They move to I Tatti (taken as a lease from the property’s owner, John Temple Leader), and a process of refurbishing the Villa begins.
