Berenson acquires the Signorelli portraits of Camillo Vitelli and Vitellozzo Vitelli. René Piot is commissioned to execute frescoes in the “Big” Library, but by November of that year Berenson already decides to cover them up. The frescoes are only revealed from beneath their canvas coverings in the 1970s, for an exhibition about Florence and French art.
